Saturday 09/12/09 -- a great start!

We had a very successful and full day of working together at the Dorset Farms site in South Burlington, to kick-off the Forest Pest Visual Survey initiative!

Together, we spent some time going over the facts about the Asian Longhorned Beetle (ALB) and the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) insects then we systematically inspected all host trees in this designated site.

The final tally:
ALB host trees = 106  EAB host trees = 259  Total inspected = 365  ****  Total suspected = 0

We are very happy to report that the trees do not meet the criteria for logging as suspected infestation!  Great work team!!

If you are interested in learning more about the ALB and EAB insects and what you can do to help .. please contact us as this initiate will be ongoing.  Everyone can help!

Welcome to our new web site!

Hello Fellow Tree Stewards!

This is very exciting!  We finally have a web site to share information about the various 'tree' initiatives that our project TREEage has been involved with and a schedule to make it easier for you to find us out in the community.  I'm still learning how to add content and will try to keep this site up to date .. and of course, that is a task that you might like to help with as a member of our team :)

Thanks to all who have helped so much and who have been a great support to our efforts!  Please give us feedback and hope to see you soon.

    be well
    Marie
